All posts for the month February, 2018

A big congratulations to Shnuffletips for becoming only our third Pacifist Champion for Legion. This is Towny’s first Pacifist Champion, however, he does have another one progressing very nicely. His /played was 15 days, 21 hours. Through all the levels he completed 2,243 quests, 1,936 of those were dailies and ended up with 69,000 gold!

What is also unique here is that Shnuffletips is the first non-stealthing class to EVER complete the Pacifist Challenge; all other Pacifist Champions have been either Druids or Rogues.

Towny was just on our podcast last night for Episode 105 and offered up a very juicy piece of advice: Do not level up your Archaeology above 450 so that dig sites don’t spawn mobs. Perhaps this is a bug with Archaeology or it’s intended; whatever the case may be, if you’re on a Pacifist you need to get digging!

You can find Towny on the WoW Challenges Forums or on twitter @Towny_WoW.

Congrats to MargHope, our 30th Iron Champion and Margothon’s 5th Iron Champion this expansion. MargHope, a Night Elf Priest, the 3rd Priest this expanion, reached the pinnacle on Saturday after 403 days (born in January 2017). You probably know Margothon from being the announcer, designer and all-around contest guru-guy for our periodic WoW Challenges contests.

When asked about his character, Margothon mentions: “Playing the priest, wasn’t really any scary or hard moments, it is more a slow and steady grind, priests are strong irons, just very slow. As for what’s next, I think I’m done for this expansion, I’m happy with my achievements, looking forward to the next expansion.”

You can find him on twitter @Margothon1981.

Towny, our newest Pacifist Champion (what great timing!) is our guest this week; he tells us about Shnuffletips and how he got to reach max level as the first Priest to ever do so. We talk about the WoW “Alpha” and some changes that might be coming down the pipe. Leeta and Stone share their adventures in the challenges and read the State of the Challengers.

It is the Year of the Dog! The Lunar Festival runs from February 17 through March 3. Overall the event has not changed as far as the structure / organization, however, 3 new toys were added in 2017. Please see the WoWHead.com Lunar Festival Guide for a complete overview of the event.

Honouring Elders

With the exception of  Blood Thirsty, all challengers can go honour Elders and take advantage of the free Experience Points they’ll give you. Honouring an Elder will give you a Lucky Red Envelope and a Coin of Ancestry.

Blood Thirsty: These quests will count against your quests completed totals.

Pacifists: These quests are a great way to start a new Pacifist challenger, especially when you are tight for gold at Level 1.

Lunar Fortune Buff

In each of the envelopes you will receive either a Lucky Rocket Cluster or Elder’s Moonstone. Setting off the Lucky Rocket Cluster from a cluster launcher will give you the Lunar Fortune buff… this gives you +250 health and is NOT ALLOWED.

Quests

All quests are allowed for all Challenges except  Blood Thirsty, even the quest that requires you to defeat Omen, although I’m not quite sure I’d recommend trying it… if you die, that’s it.

Coin of Ancestry Redemption

You can turn in your Coins of Ancestry for pets, toys, food, fireworks and clothes.

Food

Festival Dumplings are ALLOWED. Good health/mana regeneration. Stock up on these.

Cosmetic

Festival DressesSuits & Crowns: NOT ALLOWED. These are all green-quality items and will flag your character.

Blood Thirsty: You are ALLOWED to equip these since you can equip green gear.

Schematics & Patterns

Allowed for Pacifists only. You can buy these from Fariel Starsong to craft cluster & firework launchers as well as festival dresses and suits. Professions are NOT ALLOWED for all other challengers.

Love is in the Air has started and will run from February 2 through to February 16. We go over the WoWHead.com Love is in the Air Guide and let you know what’s allowed for your Challengers.

Quests: All quests are okay to do except for Blood Thirsty challengers. Proceed with caution when attempting the Crushing the Crown daily: the mobs will scale to your level and are generally thought to be heavy hitters and tightly packed.

Lovely Cards: The Lovely Cards (example: Lovely Undercity Card) are NOT ALLOWED as they provide stat buffs for your character.

Love Tokens: These can be spent on a number of things, however, please keep in mind that the Box of Chocolates and anything that is a Cologne or Perfume are NOT ALLOWED as they provide you buffs.

Dresses & Suits: There are white/common-quality dresses and suits that can be equipped, so these are fair game for your Challengers. No need to worry about equipping an item and getting flagged for it.

Apothecary Hummel: NOT ALLOWED as this counts as a dungeon. You’ll need to use your regular characters for your chance at the Big Love Rocket.

Collecting Charms: You’re allowed to collect charms for achievements, pets, mounts and items if you want except Pacifists as the Lovely Charms require you to land the killing blow to receive the charm.
