Congratulations to Chia, our 3rd Dragonflight Blood Thirsty Challenge champion!

Congratulations to Chia for reaching max level and making her the 3rd Dragonflight Blood Thirsty Challenge champion. This is Cheatcho’s first Dragonflight Blood Thirsty Challenge Champion. Chia’s journey was 165 days, 21 hrs, 31 min, 43 sec, with a /played of 7 days, 10 hours, 23 minutes and 7 seconds.

Is this your first max level challenger? Cheatcho said, “I attempted this on a Mage earlier in the year, but died at like 42 due to afking at Nagrand. One bird was happy I did that. I also have a max level Neutral Pandaren that I managed to level first on EU and second in the world for the past few expansions (https://worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-gb/character/eu/vashj/chicho), I have a max level on Exile’s Reach starting boat that I level only with pet battles – I am pretty sure no one else had bothered to do that on that ship yet (https://worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-gb/character/eu/vashj/chica). I also have a max level No Spec Paladin that I level anyway I can, but it’s pretty hard with the limited spells she has (https://worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-gb/character/eu/vashj/caprica).

Why did you choose this challenge to play? Cheatcho states, “After doing a lot of different stuff in the game since TBC, including end game raiding, guild leading in Classic, leveling an army of 50+ alts to max, getting Loremaster, the Insane and other hard to do achievements, I felt that I need to level one char without doing any quests. The non dying part came as a bonus and I decided to do it only with white gear to make it extra challenging.”

What race/class/spec did you choose to go with, and were there any specific reasons for that choice? “My original plan was for Blood Elf Female Mage with the Sunwell set, but after leveling my first challenger to 42 and dying, I decided to go with a Warlock instead. Affliction with Voidwalker is what I chose. The dots help in case there is a double pull, and the Voidwalker should be awarded the title best Guardian on Azeroth. His help was invaluable.”

What path did you take to level, and were there specific reasons for those choices? Cheatcho said, “It was pretty straight worth. I leveled outside Silvermoon City by killing yellow dragonhawks until 60. Then I moved to the first minizone of Dragonflight where the Horde ship lands, where I killed proto dragons and frogs. 16958 mobs were enough for 1-70.”

Did you have any close calls while leveling this character? Cheatcho mentioned, “YES! Three of them. Each one was more scary than the others. First one was at Level 29, when my Voidwalker had just died and I decided to tank one of them from 50% to 0%. BIG MISTAKE. The mob did like 5x attacks one after another and I was left at 29% hp and a lot of adrenaline. Second one was not long after I arrived to the Dragon Isles at 60. I did a bad pull, then I used a bad fear, and I ended up with five mobs beating me and my Voidwalker and 12% hp left. I was sure that was the end, but somehow with a lot of luck and dots I survived. I didn’t log the character for a whole week after that. Third one was at Level 69.5, when I could almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. Another bad pull had happened, and I was left at 45% hp with a few mobs on my Voidwalker and me. After that one I started logging only once a day for like ten minutes until I dinged.”

Do you have any advice you would give to someone else thinking of trying out Blood Thirsty challenge? “Pick a class with a tanking pet, and always be sure you do single pulls. One disconnect and your pet might survive just long enough for you to log back on. More than one pulled target = guaranteed death for you and for your pet. Check the weather report. If the weather is bad, or there is some kind of lag, don’t play. Always level rested. You will save yourself a lot of time and stress. Never, and I mean NEVER EVER turn on a microwave while you are on your challenger. They disrupt your wifi signal, and you might die because of it. Have patience and be persistent, and you will eventually finish it,” said Cheatcho.

Are you working on any other challengers, or do you plan on taking a break for a while? “From all the things in the game there are two that I still haven’t tried. I have never gotten a Gladiator PvP drake, and I have never bothered to do the solo challenges in the Mage Tower for the Soaring Spelltome. I think one of those two will be my next target,” mentioned Cheatcho.

Congratulations once again to Cheatcho on Chia becoming our 3rd Dragonflight Blood Thirsty Challenge champion, and best of luck with your future challenge adventures.
