Congratulations to Berennll for reaching max level and making them the 44th Dragonflight Iron Man Challenge champion. This is Crimson’s third max level Dragonflight Challenge Champion with Tesli, a Working Man, and Caylasi, a Pacifist.
Berennll’s journey was 40 days, 12 hrs, 56 min, 53 sec, with a /played of 2 days, 14 hrs, 21 mins. Why did you choose this challenge to play? Crimson said, “The reason I created an Iron Man is because I wanted to test myself, as well as try each Challenge. There were six previous attempts before this one.”
What class/spec did Crimson choose to go with Berennll, and were there any specific reasons for that choice? “I enjoy the starting area of Elwynn Forest, so I made a Human and chose Paladin for heals and familiarity with the class.”
What path did you take to level, and were there specific reasons for those choices? Crimson said, “The route I followed mirrored my previous attempts – taking caution or skipping the quests that my characters were lost to. Most questing was done in Eastern Kingdoms in Alliance starting areas with the exception of Teldrassil and a few Dark Shore quests. Noblegarden dailies were done while avoiding the boss quest. Plants vs Zombies was done daily, as well, for the most part. At Lvl 30 I opted for timewalking and continued a bit in Westfall, Redridge Mountains and Wetlands as well as BFA. I did a fair amount of exploring between Lvl 50 – 60, as I grew weary of how long it took to kill mobs. After that it was Dragon Isles.”
Did you have any close calls while leveling this character? Crimson said, “This character didn’t have any close calls – using previous experiences as a guide. Extreme care was taken to pull one mob at a time and have an escape route planned. The Dragon Isles were the most perilous to my previous Irons, so the zones with Fyrak were avoided entirely, as were the climbing WQs, (fell to the death on one character), and the Hornswoggled WQ, (died to AOE from a mob that another player aggroed and drew near me). Few combat quests were done in The Dragon Isles as the mobs were tough. I stuck mainly with Dragonracing, placing banners and photography quests.”
Do you have any advice you would give to someone else thinking of trying out Iron Man Challenge? Crimson said, “As far as advice for Iron Man – be mentally present, scout if you don’t know an area, research quests, update gear frequently, don’t get overconfident and stop when tired.”
Are you working on any other challengers or do you plan on taking a break for a while? “I’m working on a Bloodthirsty, (very tedious), and another Pacifist, (trying to get to 70 with 0 kills). I’d possibly like to try another Iron Man with more questing and less exploring”
Congratulations once again to Crimson on Berennll becoming our 44th Dragonflight Iron Man champion, and best of luck with your future challenge adventures.
