Congratulations to Gertru for reaching max level and making them the 4th Dragonflight Blood Thirsty Challenge champion. This is Crimson’s fifth max level Dragonflight Challenge Champion. Gertru’s journey was 147 days, 21 hrs, 2 min, 3 sec, with /played time being 3 days, 2 hrs, 19 mins, 32 secs.”
Crimson said, “My goal at the end of last year was to get a character in each of those challenges to max level.”
What class/spec did Crimson choose to go with Gertru, and were there any specific reasons for that choice? “I chose Dwarf for Stoneform, Hunter for Feign Death and Exhilaration, and went with Beast Mastery for increased pet damage.”
What path did you take to level, and were there specific reasons for those choices? Crimson said, “Gertru began her Blood Thirsty adventure on December 29th last year. She headed straight to Elwynn Forest due to familiarity with the zone and started farming rare spawns and everything in between until Level 30. She did some exploring in Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, when she gained flying then headed to Boralus to find a good leveling spot. She fought mobs along the waterways of Tiragarde Sound before settling in Foxhollow Woods as the mobs have a quick respawn rate there. There was some chest seeking but she soon realized she could get more experience from mobs in a shorter amount of time. Because there were other characters being played, she got a fair bit of rested experience. At Level 60 Gertru went to Dragonlands, staying away from Fyrak & Hunts. She settled in areas where she could continuously battle mobs in a wide circle.”
Did you have any close calls while leveling this character? “There were no close calls. Being able to use green gear, the stats were good enough to handle the mobs fairly well. The hardest part was looting enough materials to auction or vendor to keep gear updated. The journey was long and monotonous.”
Do you have any advice you would give to someone else thinking of trying out Blood Thirsty Challenge? Crimson said, “My only advice is to have something in the background to keep you sane while doing this challenge. I spent a lot of time talking on the phone, listening to podcasts and playing videos on a second monitor.”
Are you working on any other challengers or do you plan on taking a break for a while? “I may try another Iron Man because it was the most engaging challenge, being the most difficult for me. I’d try a different class, maybe different faction and zone as well to keep it interesting.”
Congratulations once again to Crimson on Gertru becoming our 4th Dragonflight Blood Thirsty Champion, and best of luck with your future challenge adventures.
