Congratulations to Ferrerin for reaching max level, making her the 17th Dragonflight Green Man Challenge champion. This is Ferre’s twenty-first Dragonflight Challenge Champion. She also has three other Green Man challengers, nine Pacifists, five Working Man and three Iron Man – all max level Dragonflight Champions. Ferrerin’s journey was 1513 days, 11 hrs, 17 min, 22 sec with a /played of 7 days, 4 hours and 28 minutes.
Why did you choose this challenge to play? Ferre said, “I’ve always loved playing Frost Mages, and I wanted one who could keep fighting to fairly high levels, so chose to go Green Man. I’ll also admit to enjoying the transmog options for a cloth wearer! (Ferrerin has participated in two WoW Challenges Fashion events.)”
What class/spec did Ferre choose to go with, and were there any specific reasons for that choice? “Ferrerin is a NE Frost Mage, (actually all my Mages are Frost except for a brief bit of Arcane during Wrath). This spec has always had a good repertoire of defensive spells and with the talent points her DPS, (and defensive abilities), were pretty good. I also really like the ease of teleporting around!! I did choose a NE to give her the escape option of Shadowmeld.”
What path did you take to level, and were there specific reasons for those choices? Ferre said, “She started during BFA, and used my usual route focussed on Kalimdor after some early EK zones, (Elwynn, Loch Modan). She later did questing in Felwood and Winterspring, and then Northrend and Pandaria.
At 50, she did the Maw skip and took Threads of Fate, joining the Night Fae. During Dragonflight, she continued doing Shadowlands WQs, and some very limited questing in Dragon Isles. And she did a lot of holiday quests, and DMF turn-ins. She finally hit 70 doing a WQ at the Thousand Needles Boat Festival, (one of my favorite micro-holidays).”
Did you have any close calls while leveling Ferrerin? “She had a close call at Lvl 58 in Howling Fjord. Her sheeped mob kept her from mounting up after grabbing a chest, and she aggro’d another mob while running away. She decided not to go Invisible since it’s hard to see where you’re going while Invis ,and she hadn’t planned an escape path with that in mind – and was pretty close to a cliff. With a couple of Shimmers,, she did get away safely.”
Do you have any advice you would give to someone else thinking of trying out the Green Man challenge? Ferre said, “Play a class and spec that you enjoy! I’ve loved playing Frost Mages ever since back in Vanilla when it was a very unpopular spec. And I still find it fun! And it helps when you know your spec well enough to know what spells you can depend on in different situations, (especially in crowd-control and escape situations!) And do update your green gear when you can. It’s especially important to a caster like a Mage that you keep improving the Int on your weapon.”
Are you working on any other challengers, or do you plan on taking a break for a while? “Ongoing Pacifists, Iron Mans, Working Mans and Green Man challengers. There’s always more!” Ferre states.
Congratulations once again to Ferre on Ferrerin becoming our 17th Dragonflight Green Man Challenge Champion, and best of luck with your future challenge adventures.
