Congratulations to Evidently for reaching max level and making them the 20th The War Within Green Man Challenge champion. Evidently’s total journey took 499 days, 21 hrs, 20 min, 50 sec, with a /played of 11 hrs, 42 mins.
Is this your first max level challenger? If you’ve had others could you please refresh our memory with who they were and what challenge they were in? This is Evi’s twelfth The War Within Level 80. Evi said, “After the pre-patch changes and stat squish, it sure as hell felt like a first time again, but no, I’m keeping Leeta busy all on my own of late it seems. Poor lady, I’ll be giving her nightmares soon!” 
Why did you choose this challenge to play? Evi mentioned, “Its too late to stop now, 4 more classes to go and its all classes done as a Green Man.”
What race/class/spec did you choose to go with and were there any specific reasons for that choice? “Honestly, Paladin is one of my most played classes overall, but almost entirely as Holy back around WoD/Legion time, and I’ve had a bit of a love-hate relationship with the class since then. Never really agreed with the rework they did back in Legion to the healing spec and seem to be liking it less and less since the second rework in Dragonflight. I did this more out of necessity for the challenge rather than any love for the class. Running along as a Prot Pally though did make you feel pretty strong, interrupts all over the place and just great mitigation, I found myself always pulling more and more so it went pretty fast. Maybe I’ll have to reconsider my current hate for the class.”
What path did you take to level and were there specific reasons for those choices? Evi said, “I tried to go for something a little bit more thematic with this one, and spent a good chunk of my time in Northrend and Borean Tundra. The Alliance side of that zone is so much smoother, so always a good place to enjoy the start of the Lich King story once more. I went through most of the zone before I took off to go to Pandaria, and worked my way through all of Jade Forest and into Valley of the Four Winds before Chromie dragged me kicking and screaming back to the present day. I was quite happily levelling in Valley and had reached 71 with quests still giving me full XP and had no intention to leave until I had no choice. Following that it was the usual world quest run, most of Isle of Dorn and what do you know, 80 already. Its crazy how fast War Within goes right now.”
If this was not the first challenger of yours in this specific challenge to reach max level, did your leveling path differ from previous champions and if so why? “Yeah a bit different on this one, for a start there was no Cataclysm zones which is very unusual for me, but it was a good choice. I just had to be a little bit careful in Jade Forest to avoid the patrolling Zandalari Warscouts but otherwise a good choice to relive some old zones that I used to enjoy,” Evi mentioned.
Did you have any close calls while leveling this character? “Very few honestly. Prot is such a solid spec that it held up well to most things I threw at it. I did have a near-miss once I had hit Level 70 down in Valley of the Four Winds where pulling a few too many casters meant I had to Bubble and Focus Heal myself to get out of a sticky situation, but beyond that no. I was definitely expecting more as this was mostly levelled up post Midnight pre-patch however Blizz seems to have got it mostly right. Some of the elites just seemed to have a never ending health pool and were a bit spongy, though regular mobs are not too bad. I would regularly pull 3-6 mobs at a time and was only healing myself now and again, so good choice of class I think. It felt a lot longer than the /played indicates, especially in comparison to some of my other challengers of late, but maybe that’s just the strength of a tank compensating.”
Do you have any advice you would give to someone else thinking of trying out Green Man challenge? Evi said, “Really just a timing specific thing, even though this one went pretty easily with the pre-patch and stat squish, it doesn’t mean that all of the zones and quests are going to be the same. I’m still terrified of any quests that involve vehicles as those tend to be the worst, but just be aware and keep an eye out at all times for things that look out of place.”
Are you working on any other challengers or do you plan on taking a break for a while? “This was my last one that had already made some good progress, so from here its all low-level toons that need to go most of, if not the whole, distance to 80. Four left, and I’ll be working on those soon!”
