Is this your first max level challenger? If you’ve had others could you please refresh our memory with who they were and what challenge they were in? CraiCrai said, “Yes, it’s my first max level challenger, but it’s my second attempt. I failed the first Iron Man challenge back in Shadowlands, when I lost an Hunter at only Level 36. RIP Ironcrai Mk. I.”
Why did you choose this challenge to play? “I have always had the desire to complete this challenge, and the current lack of in-game contents gave me the opportunity to put my skills to test.”
What race/class/spec did you choose to go with and were there any specific reasons for that choice? “Shaman is my long-time main and I’ve played the same character since TBC. Even if I played almost every class/spec in the last 20 years, including more toons of the same class at max level, there has always been only one Shaman on my account. Well, this challenge gave me the opportunity to rediscover the leveling experience of my beloved class. I made it Troll because I love the background of this race and I still had to unlock the heritage set.,” mentioned CraiCrai.
What path did you take to level and were there specific reasons for those choices? “I simply completed all quests in Durotar > Northern Barrens > Southern Barrens > Dustwallow Marsh > Tanaris and, from Level 70, in Khaz Algar. I made this route to rediscover part of the beauty of old Classic WoW… even if Durotar and the Barrens aren’t longer the same.”
Did you have any close calls while leveling this character? CraiCrai said, “Yes, mainly two. One at around Level 65 when a quest of the Troll heritage armor bugged and I found myself fighting against two Elite-equivalent mobs, with no escape route. When I saw my health bar at 4% I thought I was done but somehow I survived. The second was at Level 78, (yes, I was so close…), when I jumped down from an high tower in Dornogal with a ground mount instead of a flying one… luckily I kept my blood cold and used the Gust of Wind spell to save myself. I think my heart skipped a couple of beats there.”
Do you have any advice you would give to someone else thinking of trying out Iron Man challenge? “First of all, follow rule #6 of the Zombieland movie: don’t be a hero. Play with care, always fight with an escape route available and don’t go AFK without logging out. Then: in WotLK Dalaran you can buy the best white weapons, but I suggest you to check AH at Level 45+.”
Are you working on any other challengers or do you plan on taking a break for a while? “2-3 days after this challenge I completed the Blood Thirsty challenge as well. I’m looking forward the Pacifist challenge but I’ll probably complete it in Midnight,” said CraiCrai.
