Is this your first max level challenger? If you’ve had others could you please refresh our memory with who they were and what challenge they were in? CraiCrai said, “It’s my first time, (and first attempt) Blood Thirsty challenger but I recently completed the Iron Man challenge.”
Why did you choose this challenge to play? “The lack of in-game contents gave me the opportunity to test different aspects of this game and I love to test myself in different ways.”
What race/class/spec did you choose to go with and were there any specific reasons for that choice? “Just like the Iron Man challenge, I picked the Troll race again. This time, however, it was a purely tactical reason: Trolls gain +20% XP from killing beasts. That’s a lot! It’s basically a 5×4 discount! I opted for the Hunter class because I needed an easy class able to kill even more mobs at the same time without risks. I wanted to play it Beast Mastery but I ended playing mainly Marksmanship, since I found the killing time shorter,” mentioned CraiCrai.
What path did you take to level and were there specific reasons for those choices? “I reached Level 10 in Durotar, then I asked Chromie to send me in the Cataclysm timeline. I was almost alone in this timeline and I started farming rare mobs flying from one spot to another. I made a custom path covering all rare spawns of Mulgore > Thousand Needles > Dustwallow Marsh > Southern Barrens > Northern Barrens, then going back to Thunder Bluff to accumulate some rested XP, logging out for a couple of hours. The whole route took like 30-40 minutes and allowed me to gain one level every 6-7 rares, for a total of 5-6 levels for every route. This way I reached Level 71, then got force-teleported to the present timeline and reached Level 80 in Isle of Dorn killing mainly seagulls on the island west of Dornogal. Rare mobs doesn’t work in the same way in Khaz Algar: they are much harder and have a longer lockout time, so I went back to the original plan and looked for a place where I could easily do pulls of 5-6 beasts.”
Did you have any close calls while leveling this character? CraiCrai said, “The recent stats squish made some rare mobs incredibly overpowered at some levels, but the Hunter is a pretty easy class for leveling and I always managed to survive without many issues.”
Do you have any advice you would give to someone else thinking of trying out Blood Thirsty challenge? “Not really. I know I took some sort of ‘shortcut’ for this challenge, but I’m not really into farming. Feel free to follow my tactic or just do it the ‘classic’ way! However, I suggest to pick Troll or Lightforged Draenei since these bonus XP Racials are really handy!”
Are you working on any other challengers or do you plan on taking a break for a while? “Not for now, I need some rest. Probably in Midnight I’ll bring my two challengers, (Iron Man and Blood Thirsty), to Level 90, maybe with a Pacifist as well. But for now I’m off!” said CraiCrai.
