Congratulations to Dumb and Dumber for reaching max level, making them our 1st The War Within Green Team Challenge champions! Dumb and Dumber comprises of Zazagrou and Laika, both being Dracthyr Warlocks.
Here is their story:
What was the /played time?
23 hours.
Is this your first max-level challengers?
I finished the Pacifist Challenge with Paciflore, it’s my second challenge.
First challenge for me.
Why did you choose this challenge to play?
After the Pacifist, I wanted to do Iron and/or Green. I started solo, but I haven’t finished yet. I saw that no one had finished the Green Team. It really made me want to be the first team. I talked about it to Laika with whom I played on WoW Classic SOD / Hardcore. A way to continue this challenge in retail.
No team had gone to the end. It motivated us to tell ourselves that we could be the first to end this challenge. In addition, it’s the Challenge that seems the easiest.
What race/class/spec did you and your teammate choose, and why?
Dracthyr is a great race for a challenge where you can’t die: you glide! To avoid stupid deaths from falling, it’s perfect. The Dracthyr/Human transformation is perfect for knowing when you have aggro and avoiding unpleasant surprises. We chose Warlock for the pet tank and the incredible DPS that the Destruction specialization can produce. The disadvantage of the Warlock with a pet tank is that it doesn’t have a cut, the Dracthyr race has a very appreciable racial cut.
What path did you take to level, and why?
We have experienced several failures. Each time we happily rediscovered a retail timeline. We avoided Dragonflight, which is much too recent.
Did you have any close calls while leveling?
We had several really stupid failures – panic during an escort with multi-aggro; unintentionally equipping a blue item. We then chose to assume what we were, by calling ourselves Dumb and Dumber. And it worked. We never really felt in danger. A small increase in stress on an instanced escort quest in the BFA campaign on the Alliance side. The Warlock has a lot of tools: the pet tank, candies, Death Veil, very good regeneration out of combat. We avoided quests that seemed dangerous to us.
Do you have any advice for aspiring Green Team challengers?
Having a partner you trust, excellent communication!! These are the pillars of success. We used one mount for two (grey drake for example), so as not to get lost in flight, to be sure to always land together or take off again without letting your partner engage in a fight.
Are you planning any future challenges?
Our next project is to resume playing Vanilla WoW HC and (finally!) reach Level 60. Then probably the Iron Challenge.
Congratulations once again to Dumb and Dumber on becoming our 1st The War Within Green Team Challenge champions, and best of luck with your future challenge adventures.
