Congratulations to Evistars for reaching max level and making them the 19th The War Within Green Man Challenge champion. Evistars’s total journey took 481 days, 5 hrs, 8 min, 51 sec, with a /played of 13 hrs, 9 mins.
Is this your first max level challenger? If you’ve had others could you please refresh our memory with who they were and what challenge they were in? Evi said, “Eleven and counting, still not a single toon outside of Green man though. One day. Perhaps.”
Why did you choose this challenge to play? Evi mentioned, “If you make a resolution you damn well better stick to it hey. Five more to go after this one – Paladin, Monk, Rogue, Demon Hunter and Warlock. Lets hope they all make it there safely too. Then I’ve done all the classes and the personal challenge is complete.”
What race/class/spec did you choose to go with and were there any specific reasons for that choice? “With the name of the toon, I was very much expecting to level these one as a Balance Druid, spamming out the spells and using the Glyph of Stars, (because the fat owl is not very pretty on the eye). At first however I was in Kitty Form and then just ended up going the whole way as this, apart from a few little attempts to convert over to Balance which never went well. Turns out there is no substitute for Stealth and a great opening burst. I’m also sharing the love around in terms of races to use this as a double up in achievement hunting, grabbing all the Heritage Armor sets along the way.”
What path did you take to level and were there specific reasons for those choices? Evi said, “A lot of this one was spent in Classic. I did most of Mulgore and starter areas around the Horde capitals before moving as quickly as possible into Cataclysm zones, (I started WoW in Cata so those zones always feel very comfortable to me, and in a way, homely because it means you are nearly at max – back when it was 85). For a change though, I went through and did some of Vashj’ir using the Aquatic form of the Druid to keep me going. The sheer mass of mobs in the starting area though spooked me, and I went back to Hyjal and Deepholm to get to 70. A very short venture in Twilight Highlands was made, but again, spooked by some of the hard hitting mobs and quests there so took off rather than risk it all.”
If this was not the first challenger of yours in this specific challenge to reach max level, did your leveling path differ from previous champions and if so why? “Not as much as I would like to say – Mount Hyjal is becoming a bit of a staple of a lot of my challengers due to the ease and familiarity with the zone. At points there when you are flying along at 5-10 minutes per level its hard to argue otherwise and you don’t need many zones to get to max anyway,” Evi mentioned.
Did you have any close calls while leveling this character? “Far too many. Turns out I suck at Druid, who knew? My biggest one on memory though was in Deepholm where I tried to switch back to Boomkin and use the Glyph of Stars, only to accidentally pull three more mobs than I wanted and have a complete melt down and button mashing contest to just barely stay alive. Far too close for comfort, so I quickly abandoned that idea and went back to my stealthy kitty.”
Do you have any advice you would give to someone else thinking of trying out Green Man challenge? Evi said, “Be careful in the starting areas of Vashj’ir and Twilight Highlands. Those places have some hard hitting mobs and lots of them too. Gotta have complete trust in yourself to be playing around out there!”
Congratulations once again to Evi on Evistars becoming our 19th The War Within Green Man champion, and best of luck with your future challenge adventures.
