Congratulations to Ferrelythana on becoming our 12th Shadowlands Green Man Challenge champion! Ferrelythana’s Green Man journey took 730 days, 5 hours, and 4 minutes with a /played time of 2 days, 20 hours, and 49 minutes to complete.
Ferrelythana is Ferre’s 1st Green Man champion of Shadowlands and her 17th challenge champion overall. Her other champions include Irons, Pacifists, and Working Man challengers.
Ferre chose to play the Green Man Challenge this time out because she wanted to see how much a Green Man Hunter could do in the Shadowlands zones beyond just World Quests. “I knew other challengers had a lot of success with them and wanted to give it a try. I’ll also admit to the vanity factor – I was really tired of looking at the standard grey gear and wanted a chance to transmog a bit!”
Ferrelythana was created as a Night Elf Beast Master Hunter. “Aside from one previous contest where a hunter started with Survival spec (and I changed spec right after the contest!) I’ve always preferred playing Beast Master. I always like taming the spirit bear Arcturis and need to choose Beast Master to have access to exotic pets. (I know the spirit beasts aren’t nearly as powerful as they once were, but I’m stubborn and just really like this spirit bear! He always seems to be there waiting for me in Grizzly Hills whenever I’m ready to tame him.)”
Ferre chose the following leveling path for Ferrelythana: “On the way to level 50, she pretty much followed my usual leveling path beginning with Teldrassil, a bit of Darkshore, a few quests in Azure Watch, Elywnn, and Loch Modan. I did go to Northrend early (in her teens) to pick up the green weapon quest reward from one of the first Valiance Keep quests, to be sure she had a nice green to equip before level 20, but went back to the old world until level 30 when she could fly.”
“Did some questing in Felwood and Winterspring before going back to Northrend at level 30. From 40-50, she was in Pandaria, doing a lot of daily quests for the Tillers and the Cloud Serpent folks.”
“The only reason she ever went to Legion and BFA zones was to pick up the new Dalaran hearthstone and open the portals in Boralus (specifically to get the portal to IF to make getting to Brewfest faster!)”
“Skipped the Maw, and joined the Night Fae with Threads of Fate, doing some quests in Bastion and Ardenweald and a lot of WQs. My plan to do more with the Bonus Objectives in SL on this challenger was thwarted by some RL issues I was dealing with, so she just kept doing WQs and holiday events. She did a LOT of candy buckets at Hallow’s End.”
Ferre did tell us that Ferrelythana’s run was uneventful and that she didn’t have any close calls during this journey.
Ferre has the following advice for others trying out the Green Man Challenge: “Play a class and spec that you enjoy! Look carefully at your talent choices to avoid choosing those that offer AOE spells or ‘extra hits on nearby mobs’ (looking particularly at talents like ‘Stomp’ for hunters. Just no thanks!)”
What’s next for Ferre? Will she be jumping on the next challenger or taking a break? “Ongoing Iron Hunter, Green Man NE Mage, and my Tauren Rogue Working Man.”
Good luck with your other challengers Ferre and congratulations once again on Ferrelythana becoming our 12th Shadowlands Green Man Challenge champion!
