Congratulations to Ferremar on becoming our 5th Dragonflight Working Man Challenge Champion! Ferremar’s Working Man journey took 98 days, 5 hrs, 3 min, 53 secs, with a /played time of 3 days, 12 hours, and 23 minutes.
This is Ferre’s 3rd Working Man Challenge Champion in the Dragonflight expansion, and her 6th Challenge Champion overall, with three Pacifists also.
Ferre chose to play the Working Man Challenge because, “I wanted to play a Shaman where I could do a lot of regular questing, but sill have options for getting from 60-70 without needing to quest in Dragon Isles.”
What path did you take to level, and were there specific reasons for those choices? Ferre said, “Up to Lvl 60, she did a lot of questing, along with some gathering. She followed my typical routes, modified for being Draenei since she didn’t start in the NE area. She didn’t finish the Draenei start zone, going to Azure Watch after doing a couple of starting quests. Continued in Bloodmyst areas, but didn’t do as much of that as I sometimes do. Went to Elywnn and Loch Modan while at low enough level for the rares and named mobs in Loch Modan to be easily doable. With Chromie time, went to Northrend for doing Dalaran cooking/fishing and the Argent Tournament. Once she was able to fly at 30, did more questing in Northrend, and went to Pandaria. I really liked that she could farm her Halfhill plots without worrying about vermin infestations blocking the plots one by one, since she could kill them easily. At 60, she went to Shadowlands, taking Threads of Fate and joining the Night Fae to access WQs. And she did quite a bit of archeology, cooking/fishing dailies in Darnassus, and holiday/DMF quests to get to 70. She was getting close to 70, but waited for the Thousand Boat Bash micro holiday to actually ding. Her ongoing theme/headcanon backstory is based on the sea/water spells, so it felt appropriate to go there, bounce the beach ball, and help with the environmental clean up by fishing up junk!”
Did you have any close calls while leveling this character? “She had a close call in Sholazar while trying to get to a chest in the Venture Company camp. She had hexed one of two mobs protecting it, but the hex broke a lot earlier than I was expecting, so I ended up fighting both of them. Fortunately, her Earth Elemental was a life-saver! She could heal him and let him finish off the pair of them! Lesson learned – don’t rely on hex for CC when multiple mobs are involved, it would be embarrassing to die of greed,” Ferre mentioned.
Do you have any advice you would give to someone else thinking of trying out the Working Man challenge? Ferre mentions, “The thing I love about the Working Man Challenge is that you can tailor your activities to the class/spec of the challenger. On the Shaman, I did less gathering and archeology than I’ve usually done on a Rogue or Druid, since she could do kill-quests easily up to Lvl 60. A great thing about playing a Shaman was the option to equip a shield as her off-hand. I searched out the best grey/white ones I could find from an early level, and I think it helped her take less damage in fights. Bottom line, play to your strengths in choosing your activities and leveling path.”
What’s next for Ferre? Are you working on any other challengers, or do you plan on taking a break for a while? “Ongoing Iron Man, Pacifist, Working Man, and Green Man Challengers.”
Good luck with your other challengers, and congratulations once again Ferre on Ferremar becoming our 5th Dragonflight Working Man Challenge Champion.
