Congratulations to Seff and Roef, our 5th and 6th Dragonflight Green Man Challenge Champions!

Congratulations to Seff and Roef on becoming our 5th and 6th Dragonflight Green Man Challenge Champions!  Ruud said that Seff’s Green Man journey took 30 days, 4 hrs, 24 min, 50 sec, with a /played of 18 hours to complete, while Roef’s Green Man journey took 12 days, 19 hrs, 53 min, 58 sec, with a /played of  17 hrs, 49 min.
Rudd says, “I’ve had several normal Iron Man attempts, but they did not succeed. Reason: I am a player that goes for most of the quests, and I do not like to skip dangerous areas.”

Why did you choose this challenge to play?  “With a Green Man, particularly with a tanking spec, you can do almost all quests. I think in the 1-60 range in Old Azeroth I skipped only a few quests. I think in Duskwood I only skipped Stitches, and in Redridge Mountains I stopped after freeing the three guys out of the cave. In WPL I did all the quests.”

What race/class/spec did you choose to go with, and were there any specific reasons for that choice? Ruud says, “I choose a Worgen because the quest area is dense, and you don’t have to travel much to go to the next quest. You can reach Lvl 17 very quickly. The quests are also very easy. I have now leveled the three Tanking Specs (Guardian Druid, Protection Warrior and Brewmaster Monk) to Lvl 70.”

What path did you take to level, and were there specific reasons for those choices? Ruud states, “I always follow the same path. Lvl 1 – 17: Worgen start area; Lvl 17 – 20: Loch Modan NO questing, only running around the lake killing rares as each run gives you one level up.

At Lvl 20 after getting a faster mount I run to WPL (via the famous quest “Keg Run”) and do all the quests there. Then Redridge Mountains, Loch Modan, Duskwood, Westfall. This gets you to Lvl 58, so only a few quests are necessary in Felwood for me.”
Did you have any close calls while leveling this character?  “The warrior was ok. Never dropped my health below 60%. However, with my monk I had a close call (5% health left). Near Valdrakken, there is a quest where you get the form of a fire elemental and you have to close portals. These portals are protected by elites, and you can avoid them by not crossing blue lines. Well, that went wrong. Fortunately I was saved by a Tauren(!) and from that moment my Monk makes a deep bow for every Tauren it sees :)”
Do you have any advice you would give to someone else thinking of trying out the Green Man Challenge? “Well, I think a Green Man is a nice choice if you want to start with a challenge. You learn the quests so maybe later you can start a real Iron Man challenge more easily. Taking a tanking spec will give you an extra bonus.

Are you working on any other challengers, or do you plan on taking a break for a while? Ruud says, “Will try a caster (dps), but that will be very difficult for me considering my playstyle :)”

Good luck with your other challengers Ruud, and congratulations once again on Seff and Roef becoming our 5th and 6th Dragonflight Green Man Champions!
