Congratulation to Silentherber on becoming our 10th Battle for Azeroth Pacifist Challenge champion! While this is not his first challenger, it is his first Pacifist to reach max level. His previous challengers used the “Dvor” affix but he decided that was bad luck since they all died tragically.
When asked about his leveling strategy, Silent said he took a VERY slow leveling path (almost 4 and a half years), though the time spent in-game (his /played) was actually quite minimal being just a few hours over 7 days. “At the beginning, I leveled her in the usual ways: herbing, mining, exploring, and when it became available, archeology. However, when the big change to the level of mobs came, I decided to switch to just doing the Stormwind fishing & cooking dailies, plus the DMF profession quests once a month. I was tired of killing regular Iron Men due to stupid mistakes and I just wanted to have at least one character I was SURE wouldn’t die. So now here I finally am.”
When we asked SilentHerber if he had any close calls while leveling he said, “No close calls that I can remember. If I ever had one, it must have come at the low levels when a pacifist is most vulnerable.”
What tips or advice would you give to someone else trying the Pacifist Challenge? “I have almost no advice for other pacifists except patience. I’m no expert! Just don’t do anything you’re not 100% sure is safe. One obvious bit of advice: take all your attacks off your action bars. Actually, there is absolutely nothing on my main action bar! There is no way I can accidentally attack anything, or fall out of flight by activating an ability, even if my cat decides to walk across my keyboard. My only other advice is to develop good habits. For example, I log in and out at the same spot every day. I always check before I vendor anything, just to ensure I’m not accidentally consuming it. Develop a protocol and stick to it.”
What’s next for Silent you might be thinking? Are they working on any other challengers or taking a break for a bit and enjoying their max level achievement? “90%+ of my WoW time must be on non-iron characters. I log on to WoW virtually every day, and the very first thing I always do is the Stormwind fishing and cooking quests on Silent, which takes 5-10 minutes. Then I log off her and play my heroic-level raiding main and alts on another server (Horde-side, actually). In the past I used to focus more on irons, but since my wife and I have found a good raiding guild, we now focus on that. But I might try leveling another iron, since we’re getting close to the end of this XPAC, and the raiding is winding down.”
Best of luck with your raid team Silent and we hope to see you back on the challenge scene soon!
