Feast of Winter Veil 2019

The halls have been decked, and garlands abound. The excitement is building all around. Great Father Winter will bring gifts that delight! We’ll feast and be merry and have snowball fights! We’ll gather together as we sit by the fire, regaling stories and sharing hot apple cider.

The Feast of Winter Veil has begun and will run through 6 AM on January 2nd. WoWHead has a full overview of the event which can be found here.

The following information is for the Iron Man Challenge. For information on the challenge variants please see below.

New for 2019
There are a couple of new things this year. One of those being A Tiny Winter Hat. This item is obtained by visiting the Smokeywoods Pastures cart in either Ironforge or Orgrimmar and clicking on Pepe. As of this moment, the item is not on the live servers but an official Blizzard post said it was new this year. Perhaps it will get hot fixed at some point during the event. At this time, this item has NOT been tested. If this item does get added in during the event, consider it NOT ALLOWED until we’ve had the chance to test it. Once tested we’ll update the post on the final answer.

Another new thing added in this year is sleigh rides around Ironforge and Orgrimmar. You can find the sleighs near where Greatfather Winter is located. It looks like you can ride in the sleigh or on one of the stags pulling it. No buffs are incurred and this is just a fun, silly holiday activity. This is ALLOWED.

Quests & Daily Quests
There are several quests and daily quests available during this event that you are allowed to complete. While you are allowed to complete them here are a few things to make note of:
– The quests Treats for Great-father Winter(H) and Treats for Greatfather Winter(A) involve cooking. You are NOT ALLOWED to learn cooking for this quest, however, you can buy the gingerbread cookies needed off the Auction House if any have been listed. The milk can be bought from vendors.
– The quests You’re a Mean One…(H) and You’re a Mean One…(A) involve retrieving Stolen Treats from The Abominable Greench. Once he has been slain the stolen goods spawn at the entrance of his cave. You do NOT need to kill the Greench in order to be able to snag the gifts when they spawn in. It is recommended that challengers keep a safe distance from this boss as there is a good chance he’ll one-shot your challenger. This quest may only be available to players level 60 and up as indicated by a post from Blizzard.

For challengers that have upgraded their garrisons to level 3 and are level 100 or higher, an additional 4 holiday daily quests will become available. These can be picked up in your garrisons from either Almie(A) or Pizzle(H).
– The quest Grumpus involves killing him and you must tag him to get credit. This quest may be too dangerous to bother with. When in doubt, scout it out.

Warlords Savage Gift
The Savage Gift is obtained from Izzy Hollyfizzle who is located in your level 3 garrison. The gift can be purchased for 5 Merry Supplies and may contain the following items:
Apexis Crystals
Oil
Garrison Resources
Elixir of the Rapid Mind (NOT ALLOWED)
Medallion of the Legion
Frozen Arms of a Hero
Minion of Grumpus

Catching Greatfather Winter
At Highmountain Peak in the Highmountain zone, you can find a Highmountain Tauren version of Greatfather Winter. At the top of every hour, he’ll spawn near Frosthoof Watch and travel down Hightmountain Peak in a sled being pulled by a couple of Winter Elderhorns. When you catch up with him, he’ll award you 500 Order Resources.

Festive Fun
The following festive items can be obtained during this event by /kissing a winter reveler once an hour. These revelers can be found in the inns:

Classic Iron
While we are still not able to track Classic Irons just yet, for those interested, the Feast of Winter Veil is running through January 2nd on classic servers. WoWHead has compiled a guide for the Classic version of the Feast of Winter Veil, which can be found here. Most of the quests look pretty straight forward and fairly similar if not the same as some of the quests available for the retail version of the event. If you are attempting any of the holiday quests on your Irons in Classic just remember to review the rough rule set we have on the site before getting started and when in doubt feel free to ask us for clarification.
